چکیده

Many researches in managing global transactions in multidatabase systems(MDBS) have been proposed to solve problems of ensuring the global serializability. In these method, a few opportunities are provided to the global transaction to execute concurrently. We concentrate our attention on 1) maintaining consistent database state that is defined by global integrity constraints and 2) investigation into the more accurate indirect conflict situation so that the global transaction manager(GTM) of MDBS provides the higher degree of concurrency. In this paper, we propose a site-locking concurrency control method in MDBS. In our method the more global transaction can be concurrently executed, since the refined boundary of possibility of indirect conflict is offered.

2PC Agent Method: Achieving Serializability in Presence of Failures in a Heterogeneous Multidatabase

A method for integrated concurrency control and recovery, applicable to heterogeneous multidatabase systems is proposed1. The role of the participant in the two-phase commit protocol is laid on an entity called 2PC Agent associated with the local database system. The main importance of the method is in preserving global serializability in the presence of unilateral aborts and site failures. The...

Performance Evaluation of Two Multidatabase Transaction Management Algorithms

A multidatabase system (MDBS) is an integrated collection of local database systems (DBMSs) that allows users to access and manipulate data distributed among the DBMSs. In this paper, we analyze the performance of two concurrency control algorithms that ensure global serializability. The first algorithm imposes no restrictions on the structure of the concur-rency control mechanisms used by loca...

Layered Approach to Transaction Management in Multidatabase Systems

With the proliferation of distributed computing, there arises a need for a new generation of database systems to support complex object manipulation and multimedia applications while preserving interworking with existing applications. The autonomy of these heterogeneous systems implies that the synchronisation and management of distributed transactions have become an important issue. An archite...

Transaction scheduling in dynamic composite multidatabase systems

This paper proposes composite multidatabase architecture consisting of multiple, possibly heterogeneous, peer multidatabase servers distributed on a communications network. The domain of each multidatabase server is treated as a multidatabase cell. Global transactions could span multiple multidatabase cells, sometimes forcing multidatabase servers to act as component database systems. Although ...

An Extended Transaction Model for Multidatabase Systems

Transaction management in multidatabase systems presents numerous challenges due to the heterogeneity of the underlying databases and the need to preserve autonomy of local. systems. On the other hand, the existence of multiple databases frequently makes it possible to accomplish the objective of a transaction by performing an action in one of several. functionally equivalent databases. This pr...
